Basic float glass cut to size, is heated in a furnace to about 600°C to 700°C, then cooled very quickly but in a controlled manner. Tempered glass is about five times stronger than float glass. In case of breakage, it fragments into small pieces, minimizing the risk of injury.
Tempered glass complies with the EN 12150 standard.
